Editing News

In exciting news, I am proud to share that a number of pieces I have edited last year have been shortlisted for the 2023 Aurealis awards!

Radcliffe by Madeleine D’Este has been shortlisted for Best Horror Novella. Radcliffe is a Gothic tale set in today’s Melbourne, where Tamsin follows a voice in her head to a ramshackle Victorian terrace house, and the voice tells her ‘Death is coming.’ D’Este is a wonderful storyteller, and her voice has captured Tamsin and the story of this ‘weird house full of weird women’ beautifully.

Sea Mist, Shore Witch by Mikhaeyla Kopievsky has been shortlisted for Best Fantasy Short Story. Kopievsky tells the story of a girl petitioning the Shore Witch for the return of her sister, and is at once delicate, gorgeous, spellbinding and profound.

Follow the Water by J. Palmer has been shortlisted for Best Young Adult Short Story. Follow the Water is set in a post-apocalyptic Western Australia, where two teenagers risk their lives to find safety by following the Goldfields pipeline to Kalgoorlie. Palmer is an excellent storyteller, and this is a captivating read.

You can support these wonderful authors by purchasing, reading and reviewing their stories! Radcliffe is available here. Sea Mist, Shore Witch and Follow the Water both appear in the anthology ‘Where the Weird Things Are’ which is available here.
Best of luck to Madeliene D’Este, Mikhaeyla Kopievsky and J. Palmer in the awards, and – of course – congratulations and good luck to all shortlisted authors!

I currently have some upcoming availabilities, so if you have a story that needs an editor, I would love to work with you! Check out my editing services here.
